Photography Origins!

Today I learned that the first ever still photo was taken by chemist and inventor Joseph Nicéphore Niépce! In fact, I learned that much of the history of photography is related to chemistry! This shouldn’t be surprising because the photographic process involves physics and chemicals. My two favorite things!

I think that this is an incredible example of the ‘A’ in STEAM. For those of you who don’t know, STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. A loth of education and outreach focuses on STEM, but there has been recent initiative to involve the arts because the arts help spread the excitement of science, and let’s face it art is a form of science too! Just like photography! I am hoping to share more about photography as I delve into it more and more, but I am just blown away by how much SCIENCE is involved!
