I am thrilled to be kicking off tonight’s Philadelphia Science Festival event “To Veg or Not to Veg? The Science Behind Vegetarianism.” As a vegan, and a scientist, I am fascinated by all aspects of vegetarianism. I knew I would be attending this year’s festival and decided to submit this idea to get a few speakers to explore a variety of aspects of vegetarianism that everyone may not think about. There will, of course, be a medical doctor, Dr. Farzaneh Daghigh. After all, how could we not discuss the health aspects? We’re also going to learn from Dr. Jared Piazza about what makes some of us choose to become veg*n. Lastly (or firstly in order of speaking), as the atmospheric chemist on board, I will be talking about the impacts of the livestock industry on climate change. Check out the event here!
I am really looking forward to this evening’s event. I would be happy to share my slides and additional details on this site after the event if there is interest. As always, feel free to post any questions!
